Thank you Dave. It was very hard to break this out of the vacuum seal pack I have had it in for a while. As you know, it means more to me than words can ever express. I was saving it for an engine that I would build and leave on the stand for a show piece in the old man's office, but, duty called today for the new mill. I know how most guys go through a carb, but you take it to the highest level. Oh, it runs better than it looks! :TU: Thanks for all the help past and future. MarkO
Looks great . Who built it ? To me detailing is as important as the way it works . If you are going to do it do it right !!
Hi Steve, I do not know if I will be taking it or not. Still not painted, and likely wont be until next year as we are trying to build a new garage with a house  It sure drives like a dream with that 1.25" bar in front, 1" rear bar and new BBB springs all the way around. How's your's doing?
Hi Kieth, Sorry man (and other fellows), I am not trying to be sneaky, but Dave will chime in if he chooses to and since I respect him and his privacy..... Thanks and maybe see you at the Nats in Bellevue in July?
It's probably nice having a cam that produces some vacuum too! Nothing new with mine. Our July has been pretty slammed and will continue through the rest of the month. I was hoping to get out to the BCA show on Saturday, since I get home very late on Friday night. But we've been invited to an early launch to spend much of the day out on a boat with one of my wife's coworkers. So it looks like I won't be stopping by on Saturday.
I checked with Dave and he is ok with mentioning who he is; He goes by WE1 on this board, many of you know him and if you do, you appreciate what a great guy he is and a treasure. If you have not had the pleasure yet, i hope one day you do:TU: Dave has done a couple Q-jets for me and I would never let anyine else near mine. Anyone can rebuild one with a 30 dollar kit and an afternoon, but what Dave does is, well.... yeah.:beers2: Anyway, thanks again dave, this Bud's for you! MarkO
You're welcome Mark. I appreciate the kind words. Doing the carbs is a decent way to spend some of those wet NW days we tend to get around here. :bglasses: What did the machinist have to say about the pushrod length dilemma? Glad it all worked out in the end....time to :3gears:
Just a quick update here.... I have about an hour and a half on the new build, the timing and carb are tuned as good as I can without an exhaust analyzer, and it is absolutely incredible. It is crispier than my previous build with GS105A but not as much top end pull as that bastard had. It is more drivable for the vert:TU: Nothing finer than a plan coming together and the help of some pals! MarkO
she IS gorgeous, and if she runs like butter in june, well, cant beat a quadrajet as long as they are tuned. bit rich for my budget but i know most you guys on here are few years older and working a steady 9-5er. im sure it was worth every penny so pleaase nobody take it that way, if i had the income right now, i would happily pay 2 thousand bucks with a smile on my face for the right carb. if you dont mind my asking, what are the primaries set at, and the jetting? im very new at this, everyone says go holley, but i say kiss me where the sun dont shine, plenty of camaros in the world already, i love buicks for a reason. so yea......
I think that carb on Mark's car had 75 pri. jets and 45 rods. Its been a while. The sec rods were probably something in the AX or BG range with a F,G or H hanger. And it was no where near $2K.
