I just purchased a Pertronix flame thrower 2 coil and electronic conversion kit, and also an adjustable vacuum advance. I am looking for tips, tricks on installation or should I have my mechanic do it? Also what about setting timing and vacuum after installation? I also upgraded my wires.
    Thanks, Mark

    Thanks Again, Larry
A lot of information !! I will need to read them a few times to fully understand.
    A few more questions though:
How do I determine ported vacuum or full manifold vacuum??
Also, I have the Accell adjustable vacuum canister#11031035 from Jeg's, will this work?

I've been reading the information on this sight since I received my car about a month ago to learn about the buick 350. I'm coming from a '64 VW bug and a '98 LS1 formula, so I appreciate the informatiion and patience!

Ported vacuum is 0 at idle, and increases as you open the throttle, then drops to 0 at wide open throttle. Manifold vacuum is high at idle, and part throttle, and goes to 0 at wide open throttle. There are fittings on the carb for both on the Q-jet. Drivers side fitting is ported, passenger side fitting is manifold vacuum.
The accel adjustable vacuum advance adjusts through the vacuum nipple with an allen wrench. Adjust your total timing with the vacuum advance disconnected. Run as much advance as you can (30-34*) without ping on full throttle acceleration. Then connect the vacuum advance at minumum setting, and increase it until you hear ping during part throttle acceleration. When it pings, back off on the adjustment, and you are done.
