What year? I don't really know what I am doing but that VIN structure does not look right to me. Where did you get the number (ie, off the door pillar, etc)? Could the last "B" be an "8"? K
I know it doesn't look right to me either but this is what I got from a freind looking at a car for sale.. He says its a 1970 GTO convertible clone.. Not sure, thats why I posted.. Thankyou Randy
A model year Pontiac VIN has 13 digits, starting with 2 for Pontiac. If it's a clone, they have used a Tempest, (the 1970 LeMans Sport convertible had a production of only 4670 cars, so I'm sure they will never use this model to build a clone) so the VIN should read: 2 33 67 0 * ****** for a Tempest convertible.
Or, coming from the other way, a real 70 GTO convert would be: 2 42 67 0 P 1xxxx1 I think you can see why we were confused by the make up of the number you gave. ...one never knows....ou:
My comment was more an editorial on the "criminal mind"... (like the guys that try to steal an Automated Teller Machine by chaining it to the bumper - only to leave the bumper and license plate behind) I hope you did not take offense - K
My lord, it's just a Pontiac. Zillions of them out there. Now if it was an Oldsmobile........................:Brow: :Brow: :Brow:
At least with Fords you can figure out what they were. On the odd Oldses the plates mostly rusted away. Have to give you credit, Dave, for highjacking a discussion on a serial number.o No:
