I hate asking these questions but is it possible or feasible to replace the carpet in my car by just cutting a piece of regular old carpet to fit?

Would it work? If so, what kind of carpet would I use?

This is for my 73 Regal.

You could but it won't lay across the contours of the floor very well. You'll have to use a lot of spray adhesive to make it stick. That's the benefit of buying carpeting molded to the interior contours.

Unless you get a very thin carpet fabric. Look around the internet, I'm sure you can find somthing. Actually one of my cars has cheap carpeting in it, but I don't know where it came from since it was in when I bought it.

Indoor/ outdoor astroturf type carpet is cheap at the home center, comes in many colors and cleans easy. I buoght a replacement carpet for $100

You can almost buy a set of molded carpets that are the correct fit, weave and color for $100.00.

For example A1 auto sells auto custom molded carpets.

Yeah, I was thinking around $30-$40. When I get all my leaks fixed then I want to spend the money and get the real carpet. I think I saw it for $123.
