At least he's using capital letters at the beginning of every new sentence, (okay, he's using them in every word) something you still have to learn, mate [IMG]

Also required for names, like Riv or Yuk.
So you're not really in the position to be critical at all..........

Anyone read his descriptions?Didn't mis-spell a word. Almost seems like two people worked up these ads. Tom

using caps for the first word in a sentence is overkill. if i didnt use a period at the end of the sentence i would cap the first word for ya, but since i use the period. caps arent really needed.

Just because someone has a log in their eye doesn't mean they shouldn't point out a splinter in someone elses. The person with the splinter may be grateful and help remove the log. Of course there's always the chance that after helping to remove the log they may beat the other person about the head with it, but that's the chance you take! :Dou: :error:

It's just what you're used to [IMG]

The real world will act different about application letters for a job (without caps) written by your kids, but hey.....your the daddy :TU:

I'm all for correct grammar, but the internet is riddled with examples like this. We'll never be able to correct everyone who misspells Centurion, either:grin:

I'd also like to ask that the insults stop. I can't see this thread going anywhere positive.

Adam, I'm basically a grammar Nazi, and I detect a considerable amount of levity in this thread. Except for Erik (with a K)! Chill, dude.

On a different note, why can't we have a spell checker and even a grammar and syntax monitor for those who care? Something similar to MS Word.

I try to double-check my posts, but I spell better than I type, and I would appreciate the help. Are those sorts of things expensive, or cheap and ubiquitous?

PS I'll bet we are the only two irrigators who can write!! :Dou: :TU:

    Same here Adam... :beer

But when the original messenger isn't any better, what can one expect ?
(and I'm not talking about blind followers with his name in their signature.... :Dou: )

If even I know how to write good English, I want a native speaker to be even better...... :ball:

I'm fluent in 8 languages, but it makes me sad to see how bad some board members speak/type their own language.

Frank - I didn't know you were an irrigator! :Dou: And you're probably right about that. My buddy and I were discussing that the other day in our pursuit for another employee to do some service work for us.

Erik - I know how you feel. It can be very frustrating at times to see some of the stuff that is written. I guess that's how language sort of adapts and changes over time, is by using more common misspellings of words and finally taking them in as correct grammar.

    I'm cool :bglasses:

But I can't stand people making fun about others, without knowing anything about them.

Maybe the eBay poster is dyslectic ? And Mr. Yuk thinks it's funny to start a thread about it ?
But he's dyslectic as well, for not using capital letters.

And when you point this out to him, he has some poor excuse [IMG]

Let's go on, and talk about cars...

i didnt find it funny at all. i kinda find it sad that i have seen ebay sellers post an auction for a buick emblem and spell buick wrong in the ad and/or title.
if dumping on me for not capping my sentences makes you feel better about yourself, it says alot more about yourself than me.

but now back to my point ....
when selling on ebay, spelling can make or break you.
i posted the ad in this thread to maybe help a board member find one of the great deals like i have found through searching misspelled words.

i have 13 variations of the word lesabre that i use when searching ebay. i have found items with every variation and got a great deal almost all of the time.

thanks to incorrectly spelled words or poorly titled auctions on ebay, i have managed to buy 4 seperate NOS caps for my buick chrome wheels and spent less than 70 bucks after shipping for the whole set.

an ad for one of my unused buick wheels with the original radial tire was titled "biuck sparetire".
the only text in the ad said "dusty needs rinsed off". i asked the guy if it had ever been used and he responded that he licked his finger and wiped the dust from the bolt holes and the paint wasnt even scratched. he also stated that the tire still had all of its nipples on the tread.
58 dollars after shipping and it is in perfect conditon.
there were only 7 hits on the page after a 5 day auction.
it was kinda funny that he had no problem telling me alot about his wheel and tire in emails yet his ad was totally lame and likely cost him considerable money in the end.

i scored an NOS 4 in a row window switch for my 67 grand prix. it takes one of the switches with the rounded corner bezel. the ad title was "G.M. wdo controller". the ad said "new. chrome is almost perfect." after he sent me pics showing what he considered flaws (which was 2 pit/points on the very bottom), i decided to bid/snipe. my max was 53 dollars but nobody else challenged me. total price was like 9.99 and 5.55 shipping. there wasnt a single scratch from a plug ever sliding onto the pins. the switch was the nicest have ever seen. he was not a car parts seller but dealt mostly with leftover stuff he would buy from esatate sales.

i got a squared style new 4 in a row in a similar fashion. 10 bucks and the guy lived in KC. he met me at a mcdonalds near his house and saved me the shipping.

so good luck with your correct spellin' and CAPITAL letters and yer fancy book learnin'..... and your house that aint even got any wheels!
