I have a Edelbrock Performance carb on a 1972 455 with HEI. Should I be connnected to ported or manifold vacuum advance? Thanks.

You will get different opinions on this. I like manifold vacuum for the vacuum advance. The most important thing is to limit the cannister degrees if you have a quicker than stock mechanical advance rate. Manifold vacuum will give you vacuum advance at idle. This will let the engine run cooler in stop and go traffic. I also find that manifold vacuum responds quicker to changes in engine load.

from what i have learned is that ported is for all that smog stuff they installed. use the manifold the lower one, unless you are running all that
    smog equipment.
