I have a 12 bolt under a 72 gsx and i think the posi in it is going out. Right now the right tire spins and the left does not. I am wondering what it takes to rebuild a posi unit and about how much it should cost. Is there anything simple that could be causing the posi not to function. It used to work fine with the old tires but with the new 275's on i think it is just too much grip. If the general thought is to have a shop work on it does anyone know any good shops around Austin Texas that could repair it for a reasonable price. thanks
Minimum of a new set of GM clutchs. Am currently going through 2 more oem Eaton 3 series posi carriers with new side gears & spiders, new clutchs, thicker plates & 400lb springs. Doing so, as all my loose used 3 series 12 bolt posi carriers are in poor shape & had the weak (JUNK) 10-18 design spiders & side gears. It's not cheap, I'll prob have more in each rebuilt HD "140' carrier than I would have in a new Eaton carrier. No thoughts on Austin. Might ck with Patton. Got Posi? :3gears: Roger
