I uploaded a profile picture of my car but it is not appearing under my name.

Could someone tell me what I need to do?

    Newbie to the list,

Hi Robert! Did you resize it to max of 150 x 150 pixels?

Yes, it may have the wrong dimensions, or the filee size may be too large. Also, what did you save it as - you might need to save it as a specific type of file. Just to be safe, I'd give it a name with no spaces. Justoneword.

One more idea - go to the V8 Buick control panel, change the avatar, and browse through the available ones to see if yours actually made it there.

You have a "Profile" picture, and an "Avatar." The Avatar is the one you want to post that picture in. If you view your public profile, the picture you posted is there.

OK, thanks for the tip on the Avatar. I thought those were just symbols so I never looked there to see if I could change it to a picture.

I am still having a problem getting a good reduction of a picture. My main photo editing program does not let me get it down to a 150 pixel size.

Also, my Jpeg size is about 15 kbytes.

    Any suggestion?

Oh, and does anyone know how to make the picture change to show multiple cars?

    Robert

    Robert,

Mail me the original photo and I'll try to do a better job on it.

You can also mail me photos for a sliding avatar, but make sure they're all the same size.

    Mail to: buickriviera@gmail.com

I will re-shot the pic of the Electra and send it to you (with the pics of the 51 Roadmaster and 85 Riviera) in the morning.

    Thanks for the help,

    Robert

    Robert,

Save the avatar to your computer by clicking on it.
Click on User CP on the top of this page.
    Click on Edit Avatar
At the bottom of this page you see Upload an Avatar From Your Computer:
First check the Use Custom Avatar box.
Click the Browse button and find the avatar you just saved.
Click Save changes and presto........ :TU:

(Same way you went to upload your current avatar)

  11. Robert,

Love the stoplight in the yard!

Do you have it sequence, or just stay green?

    Thanks Joe,

Where are you at in Alabama? I went to UAB for graduate work. A good friend of mine lives in Mobile and my wife went to Huntingdon in Montgomery.

Also thanks to Erik for doing the changing avatar for me. Is there any site that explains how to do this?

I will send you the pictures so you can play with them if you want.

    Thanks,

    Robert

It sequences. I had to search a place that had the sequencer. The first place said it worked just like a stop light but it would sequence with each color (yellow included) staying on the same amount of time before changing.

Then I found the correct sequencer. You can ever vary the time the red/green stays on.

I also have a railroad crossing sign that alternates blinking from side to side.

I don't remember the place I got the sequencers but I could research it if you need one.

    Joe,

Post or send me your email address. For some reason when I click the link to email you I get a access denied message.

  15. Robert, I live around the Huntsville area.

I don't own any stoplights, but seeing yours sparked my interest. I search eBay, and did see a bunch of those stop light controllers.

What floored me was seeing quad stop light assemblies selling for between $400-$600 dollars. That is a lot of coin for someone who probably bought them at auction for $100/ea.

How do I get multiple photos to scroll like yours?

I write my own script to create a GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image.
But if you're not familiar with that, it's not so easy to understand.

I'm sure that you can download free "GIF Creator" software if you just Google for it.

But they are not really handy to use since the board setting for the maximum size of an avatar is only 40 KB.

    For examaple:
Robert's GIF avatar is now 33.8 KB, adding another image will make the total size going over the 40 KB limit.
So it will be too big to work with this board.

We could ask for a higher limit (but please stick to the 150 x 150 pixels size !!!) so more people can use an avatar showing multiple images :TU:
Changing the maximum bytes size is only a matter of putting a higher number into the board's controls.

    Erik,

Thanks for the quick comment. You were the one that helped me before. I tried to send you an email thru your original posts but it bounced back.

It looks like I may just be stuck with the 3 cars rotating.

But can't you also put a picture with all 4 cars as part of your signature?

You can add another photo if you degrade the image quality.
