I'm selling a Poston aluminum girdled oil pan, excellent condition, only used to break in a motor. This is the pan that has the bolts to go thru to the main caps, some were only made to strengthen the sides of the block, this one does both. Many higher HP setups are using this in stead of a girdle.

Gary, have you had the usual issue with the girdled pan leaking/seeping oil ?

I am interested. I do not know much about this pan. Can someone chime in. What advantage over stock?

The pan is deeper and adds oil capacity, it has a removable sump allowing rod bearing checks of 7&8 and cleaning, the pan is heavy cast aluminum and when bolted down stiffens the weak sides of the block minimizing twist and deflection. there are bolts that attach and go thru the bottom of the pan which when tightened bear on the main bolts/caps to tie everything together, similar to a full girdle. One of our racers has a poston pan, dyno'd 635hp, runs 10teens in a 68GS,shifts at 6500 and has been together for over 5 years.

How much deeper (more height) is this over a stock pan?

I too have interest but need to know from the sealing flange to the bottom of the "fins" on the shallow end - what is the measurement? Wanna make sure that when the engine is in the car Ive got clearance between the pan and the frame.

    TIA
    Josh

I have one in my 70 Skylark and use it with the blower motor. A few things you need to know. The are deep enough to stick down below the K member. Since my car is lowered about 1 1/2 inches I made a little 2 inch wide skid plate and welded it onto the K member to protect the pan. I had trouble with leaking until I went back and did a quality install. Mainly spend a few days cleaning all the surfaces and threaded holes. I mean really clean them. When you think they are clean do it one more time. Used Permatex Utra Grey sealant, good stuff. I now have a leak free motor for the 1st time. The pan also improves the oiling system because it has -12AN external line. This thing is a lot like the new GM LS motor's oil pan. They are a very cool and not made anymore. I believe that they were $700 new (and that was a few years ago.)
