I’m looking for some information from those of you who have experience with the Poston cast aluminum non-girdled oil pan. Namely,

1 - Do you have any idea if you’ve had to deal with any more or less oil leak problems (block-to-pan, rear main seal-to-pan and timing chain cover-to-pan) than you would expect from, say… a new steel pan or the Stef’s aluminum pan that PAE (Jim Burek) installs on some of his engines?

2 - Is this the version of the Poston pan that, according to some recent discussions on this web site, requires a certain amount of rework to resolve “oil return issues”? Or is that the Poston girdled pan?

    Thanks in advance,

I have that exact pan on my motor and I haven't had an ounce of problems with it. It does seep in the back a little, but most aftermarket pans do. You just have to continually go over all the bolts and make sure they stay tight. I thinks its probably one of the better Poston products.

Dan, i have one too. No real problems to speak of. Like Dominic, i had a slight amount of seepage at the back of pan where the removable sump bolts to main body of pan. This only happens when i race for a whole weekend but doesn't seep enough to hit the ground. Randy

    Oil Pan

Excuse me here. I was wondering if the oil pan in question is, what looks like a two piece pan? The one I've seen is Aluminum (photos only)and it looks like the sump (lower portion) is bolted to the upper half?
    thanks for any information.

DAN (mdapperdan) - Yup, that's the one.

EVERYONE - Thanks for your responses. That's exactly the information I was looking for.
