Can the stock 350 GS Air cleaner be used with a Poston S divider intake , holley 750 3310 carb and the GS Hood with a 350 in a '72 'lark

    Is all of this compatable?

On another note, TA Performance said their intake for a 350 is good for 35 lbs and .1 to .2 seconds better ET from the stock intake

I also read that the TA intake is .3 to .4 quicker than the Poston intake.

SOO...are they indirectly saying the Poston intake will slow you down over stock?..

I would like to hear anything on this from some true and tried racers out there.

Just to let you know my experience level I am an avid bracket racer perform many controlled condition tests at the track with my now 10 second '71 street Monte. I truly believe in track results from the everday bracket racers and not magazines.

    Thanks....

72 pet chicken i dont wanna be a pirate!

iv been considering the same intake for my 72 skylark. the specs i have for it here are 30-35 horsepower over factory (tested by The Iowa Chapter of the Buick GS Club of America) it showed a .324 sec. quiker ET and a 2.24 mph increase in speed. also claims to have improved torque from off idle to 7500, and "makes awesome low and mid range power without sacrificing top end power." its also a good $10 cheaper then t/a's intake

    :TU:

think thats the way im going...

I had the S/divider intake on my 350 10 years ago, besides the weight difference from the stock iron manifold I did'nt see any difference.I switched to the TA manifold when I rebuilt in '94. In my opinion the TA is a MUCH better intake.Just my opinion.Based on what I've learned:Smarty:

im actually pete (72 pet chicken). but for some reason that ID will only log in at work. maybe its cause i didnt log out, cause im still showing up on the "whos logged on" list thingy.

anyhow, i was under the impression that the s divider intake was kinda new. the little thingy i read said "patent pending," giving me the impression that it wasnt around all that long (like 10 years ago) do you know if its the same intake or maybe it was improved on? :Do No:

either way, poston and t/a are the only places iv been able to find a hi performance intake for the 350. so if one is better then the other, ill get the good one

kenny, just curious as to what differences you see between the 2 intakes. i have a postons on mine now and am not real impressed with the claim of more horsepower and torque. is there that big of a difference or is it all in the tuning. thanks, brad.

    Brad,
I brought my 350 Skylark to PeeGee Performance in Brooklyn,N.Y. to have Scotty rebuild the engine back in '94. While discussing the rebuild, the first thing he mentioned was the S/divider intake that was on it.His first recommendation was to ditch the intake and get TA's! I've never regretted it. Scotty knows these Buick engines like the back of his hand, and if he say's one is better than the other, I listen to his advice. Since then all the things I have read and heard about the 2 intakes tells me I made the right choice!:Smarty:

Does the factory GS aircleaner fit with the TA Intake and say a Holley 4150 style carb?

After using both of these intakes I will say that yes they both will work with the stock gs aircleaner and gs hood. Foams will just be a little flatter due to the intakes sitting the carb a little higher. As far as which intake is better? I dunno they're both on different motors and have never been swapped for comparison. Allthough not blazingly fast my gold car went 13.84 at 99mph with a small cam and 3:42 gears and the ta intake with an 800 cfm qj. That motor is now in my blue car and hasnt been back to the track. YET!:Brow: 3:73's with the lighter 27 post body and an almost gutted interior. Yee haw!

If you guys are wondering about which intake is better, Jim Burek (PAE Enterprises) is doing a comparison when he dyno's my engine. When I spoke with him he told me this is his first time for doing a comparison between the Poston's and TA intake for the 350. I'm unsure how long it's going to be until it gets dyno'ed as I'm in no rush to get it back. I'm just happy my engine is in good hands and when it's done it will last me. I heard to many horror stories with local machine shops and engine builder's to trust anyone else.

I'll be looking forward to the test results... as I found that my engine is healthier than expected... good news for me!

a comparison on the same engine by someone we can trust, that sounds great. learned a long time ago not to beleive everything you read about parts in the catalog. if its their product then they are sure to be biased about it. cant wait to see the results. brad.

You can say that again Brad...I have performed many tests on parts and their merit or non-merit.

poston claims 35 hp gain with their intake, i think thats what it says. i know i didnt get that kind of increase. the best move i ever made was to switch from 2.90 something rear gears to a 3.42  it just seems like there is more horsepower hidden in my engine and i cant seem to find it.:Do No: thats why the interest in the intake comparison. brad.

I'll let you guys know the outcome of the different intakes when it's ready for that stage :)
