Just removed the 14" inch rallye rims off my GS clone and installed 14x6 powder coated steel rims with almost NOS Poverty Caps. Tell me what do you think
Great looking car!:TU: Im a big fan of steel wheels/dog dish-combo and thats the look im shooting for, if I ever find :dollar: to respray my Gs, it is currently white, but it is originally a Diplomat Blue car. With body color painted wheels and dog dishes, it should look pretty sweet. Take care
Great looking car - I like it. For lighter colored cars (Bamboo Cream, white, silver etc) what was the correct color of the steel wheels? Were they painted the body color or were they painted silver, grey or even black. If I could find poverty caps, I'd like to put black steel wheels on the car. It would look great. (I hope I'm not hijacking the thread - your car does look great!!) BH
I like the look so much I did it with my own car! In fact, I owned the hubcaps for two years before I even had a car to put them on.
Wow, that's a keen eye Brian! Yes indeed, that's a car seat in the back, in fact the glare on the passenger side glass is hiding another child seat. My kids absolutely love riding in it. They are forever telling me, "Honk on 'er, Dad!" I usually comply.:3gears:
I have no idea what the correct color would be, but here is a bamboo cream car with steelies that was on ebay a couple of months ago.
Why not just have them painted body color..Afterall,they most likely weren't factory on your car,so do them as you would like them.I had at one time a picture of a bamboo cream car with matching colored wheels, and it looked great, but I must have lost it on my other laptop. Here is my 73 GS with them paint matched. Soon, they will be on my 70 Skylark and painted Seamist green..
That would be the one I had... I am not the biggest fan of Bamboo Cream, but these wheels make it look so much nicer than the stock Ralleys..
Awesome, My daughter tells me; "Spin the tires, Dad." First time I did that, with my daughter. The interior was filling up with smoke. She is yelling "Fire", trying to open the door and get out. As for safety; We always buckle up and lock the doors. Not saying that "Spin the tires" is a safety practice. Maybe Child endangerment. I do enjoy the smile she wears while "honk on 'er"
if u ordered a new car back in the day with full wheel disk, the rims were black. if u ordered the car with the default, u got hubcaps and the wheels were painted body colour. the original hubcaps on my 1970 chevelle ended up being installed a one of my dad's farm grain hopper wagons.
That car was at BPG 2 years ago and was absolutely STUNNING in person. That car visually just worked!
That is correct Pat. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it I met you and we chatted for a bit in front of the Hampton that year. :TU:
Wow that car does look great...I do also like the black steel wheels/bamboo cream combo along with the black top. I think they're sharp sleepers. All these cars with the dog dish hubcaps look great - congrats to all of you Bob
