To preserve the radiator core support/inner wheel wells, would powdercoating them as a complete assembly be a good way to keep them in "show" condition, with minor regular polishing?

With no rust in the battery tray area or wheel wells, I'd like to keep them as perfect as possible, for as long as possible, before they do start developing the common rust areas!

Other than paint/sealing, powdercoating makes the surface more like a protective shell, which is why I'm considering it, but what may be better choices for permanent underhood finishes?:Do No:

I'm sure I'll get over ruled but the use of powder coating these days is way over board. Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and thinks thats the only way to go without first accessing the environment the finished product will be used in.

Is powder coating a superior finish to paint? You betcha. Is it necessary for a car that will be kept in the garage and driven in mostly nice weather on dry roads? No. I have found that a properly prepared surface shot with epoxy primer then a good top coat will last a long time. I have had it still look great on a car I did 20 years ago.

Powder coating really shines in adverse weather conditions, salt, heat, cold, abrasion, chemicals exposure, etc most of which the average classic car is not exposed to. If you have extra money in the car budget you don't know what to do with, go ahead and powder coat and you'llbe happy. If you're looking for somewhere to cut cost so you can afford something else then go with epoxy primer and a quality top coat.
