Started working on this 84 Regal 4 door and one of the things that needs attn is the front seat transmission. It looks to have the 8 way full power seat which is stuck in the old lady full fwd position. When the controls are moved the motor runs but no movement on the seat. Looking up under there I see the trans casing is in pieces. The plastic just crumbles to the touch. I see replacement casings on FleaBay and a few complete units. Anyone done this and what are your recommendations?

Try getting a seat from a 1987 car. They use three motors, not a plastic transmission case with single motor. I'll check my local yard.

OOPS Forgot the 4 doors G-bodies were discontinued after 1984. Have to check the full size cars.
Hopefully the cable assemblies will swap over.

Apparently it’s the same motor for a bunch of different GM cars from ‘81-‘86. On the Regal, the better design ‘87 unit requires swapping more than just the transmission, but I don’t know about doing that on the sedan. (I don’t know what donor would be ‘87 or newer but swap on yours.)
I bought one from this guy a few years ago for an ‘86 T-Type. Pricey but nice. He makes new plastic cases for them. (One of the many GM parts that wound up in Rolls Royces and Bentleys!) Attached are the thread where I found him and his info seperately.
