    Hey guys,

I recently rebuilt my power steering pump for my Skylark. Put it back in the car, and it's like I have no power steering. Anyone have a tip for me? Not sure what would cause this as these pumps are very simple. Was working fine except for the leaks before. Is there a priming process you have to go through with these?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Air in the system will render it inoperable. Make sure the reservoir is full, and let the engine run for a bit. Then turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock to purge the air.

Rebuild is a fairly simple task, however, I had to do mine twice ! Same symptoms as you after a new rebuild & a pretty coat of paint.
Turns out I wasn't careful enough on the cleanliness of my work space.
A tiny speck of something had contaminated the fluid in the reservoir. Once it reached the bypass it held it open yielding no power steering.
Took it apart & found the speck. Good to go after that.
