Problem w/Wheel Vintique

Just received a set of Rally wheels from Wheel Vintique via Summitracing. Very disappointed in quality. On one wheel it looks like they had a problem stamping out the valve stem opening. They hit it three times before it got thru, leaving one hole and two dents next to it from their failed attempts. The chrome plating on the spokes on all four looks shoddy in places.

Needless to say they're going back. Any recommendations on a quality wheel I should be looking for?

It's has become a fact of life these days, long wait, high price and low quality.

X2 on this. 50 year old chrome still looks new, those wheel vintiques wheels will start to rust in weeks

Damn that crap is that bad for real?
Long waits and overpriced substandard quality items? I'll repair or make serviceable my original stuff then.

Just read the guarantee they have. They also will blame you if you wax them and blame you when you tell them don't after they rust. You're right about trying to keep originals.

I see Billet Specialties sells reasonably good Rally wheels....for $950 per wheel!? So no other options new?

It's a real shame. I have Wheel Vintique Buick wheels I bought probably 15 years ago or more. The chrome still looks great. BTW, Coker Tire now owns Wheel Vintiques, so there really is nowhere to go. IMO, nothing looks better than the Buick Chrome wheels. Glad I got mine years ago when they were good.

The inherent problem is that the "good" hexavalent chrome is outlawed. The trivalent chrome that thry use today sucks

Yeah, and really the Wheel Vintiques are obvious when you see them that they are reproductions. I can pick a set out from across a parking lot. Used is the best option. I bought some extra myself simply because they don't make more. If I ever manage to damage the ones on my car I'm good to go.

I called Stockton wheel not too long ago about what it would cost to do a complete restoration of a set of Buick wheels, and it was not cheap. Like outrageous. I can't speak to their quality, and I'm guessing like everything else there is a wait.

Keep an eye out on FB marketplace, etc. Look into what's involved in sprucing up a decent set of used ones too if you never have. A little 0000 steel wool, some polish, a little black paint can make a lot of difference.

If you're not set on OEM, which I"m not, American Racing has a couple of wheels that are obviously based on the look of the original wheels. Under $200 per wheel and they're miles ahead of the Wheel Vintique wheels in terms of quality.

    Very true!
Even in restaurants, the longer the wait, worse the food is.

These look pretty nice. Any idea what the center cap options are?

Nice wheels, but I assume they're 14". I'm planning on running wider tires so ended buying the American Racing wheels above. Ray, the OEM Buick center caps fit, I just have to narrow the clips slightly to get them to fit.

Do you have a picture of how it looks?

Ordered a set of Wheel Vintiques wheels recently. All 4 of them were out of round. Their quality has gone in the tank.

You found out when you went to put tires on?

First thing I do is spin just the wheels on a balancer. You can see if they are major out of round. Usually, once you mount tires on them, they are not returnable.
