I`m having a problem with my new electrical Autometer Cobalt gauges on my car, sometimes it`ll read sometimes it will not, what can cause this?then sometimes it`ll bounce up and then down?i really dont know what else to look for,i put the red in fuse box white to lights and black to ground on the dash and the rest is the harness going to the censor, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I had trouble with my electric oil presssure gage. Seems I couldn't get a good ground on the dash. I ended up running the ground out to the firewall ground strap.

my problem is wierd,i have it powered up as they say in the instructions to 12V which is the fuse box,and i also have them grounded to the under dash which is metal and the white to the lights, now when i turn the car on and start it the oil pressure will not work at all,so i shut the car off and i apply a test light to the fuse where im getting the power for the gauges and start the car with the test light on the fuse and it works fine, what is the problem?

    Thanks

i forgot to ask did u use teflon tape on the threads of of the censors?in the instrctions it says to use a thread sealer but not tape could that be it?

    Thanks

I did have to move my hot wire to another fuse too. I can't remember which one I had it plugged into, but I was getting low voltage. The needle would move a little when I turned the key on, but the gage wouldn't do anything past that. After I put it in another fuse it was fine. I used teflon too:Brow:

is it possible to check for me and let me know in what fuse you put it in?i think i put it in the Radio fuse.

    Thanks

I have my temp plugged into the radio fuse and oil pressure into the back-lamp fuse.

oh so u have them seperate, see i connected them to one wire and then one wire going into the fuse box for both temp and oil pressure, could that be an issue?

Not sure, I ran them seperate just to err on the safe side and and not overload anything.

George.... it sounds to me like you have a very serious electrical problem, and your whole car needs "gone through". Perhaps you should ship it to me and I'll "work on it" for a few months for you FOR FREE, and send it back when I'm "done".

Good luck figuring it out. I hope it's something simple!
    :TU:

btw... why did you choose to go to electrical gauges?
I was always under the impression that mechanicals were far superior?

Sure i`ll send it over asap, lol to be honest i hate electric gauges i never liked them but they do not make the Autometer Cobalt gauges in mechanical, yea go figure,so i had to sacrifice for the look:mad:

    teflon tape

teflon tape reduces or completely negates any ground that your sending switches require , if they have single wire connections .
    use a thread sealer .
