Well you got me. I was hoping to see a low mile 70 or 71 SCJ ranchero not this emissions choked POS. It's a new one ok but I say who cares?
PS I love your car I had a nice example like it. Yellow, 4 spd, rim blo with no power steering ( parrelel parking was interesting) 30k miles and I traded it for a paint job for my Buick in 1989. In my defense back then it was running a 73 460 and had a equalock in the back. The trans was however the original one.

It would make a nice boat anchor.

    I had a '79 Ranchero.

Useful vehicle. Was my brothers then I aquired it. It got run through the trail (and made some trails) at the end of it's life.

    He's been there a few times, running 13.80's with a L79 327....

    While we're off topic...

Some of those El Caminos could be a formidable package...a good friend of mine has a crazy-low mileage (<20k miles if I recall) '69 *L89* Elky...black on black, full guages, aluminum headed 396/375hp with a 4-speed...put the tailgate down and hang on!

Actuall had one of these with a 400 and power windows . I shoved a 460 in there and really enjoyed spinning the tires until I got tired of smelling the smoke. Not really enough of a truck or enough of a car for me. I also has 3 70-71 rancheros and I did liem the look but never really bonded with either of them . I did however bond with my 70 formal roof 429 ram air car though. I finished it and drove it for about a year and sold the body to one guy and the engine/trans to another. Thats the only I could get out what I spent.

    In 2006 there was a 1965 El Camino SS327 and a 1972 429 Ranchero GT.

Yep, the 72 'chero GT was mine. Stock N code and I stuffed a 4.10 locker in it. was over .3 faster than my 72 Gran Torino Sport 351CJ 4sp w/ 3.50 gears. I figure with equal gearing the cars would be pretty equal to each other. So, not bad for the ranchero, the 72 bb waas supposed to be the total boat anchor for the year. horrendous heads in '72. anyways, i'll stop the babbling.

I did not read the add but what would possess someone to keep this without ever driving it. It is not a corvette.

Where do they find this stuff, in an attic somewhere?

I had a dark blue 79 Ranchero GT back in 1985. 400M motor ate fuel like it was going out of style. Mine had all the bells and whistles, aluminum "turbine" wheels, remote 40 channel CB, etc, etc. Too small inside for a car, too small in back for a truck. Had a spare 460 motor go rolling around in the bed like a pinball during a rather sudden evasive manuever at an intersection. I was amazed it didn't find it's way through the back glass.
Eventually the usual 400M problem of antifreeze leaking from the heads made me trade it off. I don't miss it.
