What weights of oil is everybody running in their purestockers? I run 10w30 Brad Penn in my 360 Duster and wondered if that is the norm.

    Castrol 10w-30 with ZDP Plus.

I went from 15-50 Mobil 1 (back before the extended preformance) to 10w-30 and picked up almost a tenth.

You forgot about the paint strainer part.
That got the big chunks of egg and bacon out.

I've been using Royal Purple 10W-30.

I used 15-40 in the new engine for the new 68 1/2 Mustang coupe breaking it in on the dyno.I wonder if I could pick up a little HP switching to something different now.

    Along these lines of oil.

My neighbor just lost a cam lobe on his low mileage 79 z28. Is it possible to loose cam lobes even well after break in? Is the only insurance brad penn and zddp?

  17. ^ What he said. I have a case of Brad Penn break in oil, figured I will run it for initial break in. Dump it after cam break in is done, then refill with Brad Penn for the first 800-ish miles. After that... not sure what to use.

Happened to my 340 three years after the rebuild. Removing zinc wreaked havoc with flat tappet engines.

I just found a Brad Prenn distributor close to me so I'm going to bring a few cases of 10w30 with me to Stanton if anybody is interested in getting some.
