Going through this 455 I purchased, I have 5/16 dia pushrods with .116 wall. This is a solid roller cammed engine and these pushrods were opening some stout springs (over 570 lbs open) The holes in the TA heads are .500, have any of you used 3/8 pushrods? Are the smaller with the thicker wall better? What is the recommendation? Thanks

I'd use the thicker walled 5/16 pushrods

A decent 3/8" is stronger but heavy due to mass and larger oil volume, but the .116 5/16" push rod should be plenty strong not to mention more clearance in the heads.

That got me thinking, my pushrods are Comp Cams 5/16 .080 wall.
Hugger I think your correct, .116 is pretty thick:eek2:

The normal thickness would be listed as .120 wall, but standard industrial size variations may in fact yield a measurement of .116.

You should have no issue with those pushrods at that spring pressure, in the normal 6000-6500 rpm Buick engine.
