Finally had some extra time and took out my 2.56 8.2 peg leg today. bolted in the 8.5 2.73 posi and expected to have to shorten my driveline and get a new ujoint. But i had a dline from a 70's regal i parted out and it went right in. right length right ujoint grrrr makes me a little upset i waited so long. buick 350 with 2004r trans if i knew i had all the right stuff i would've brought home some gear oil (and done this months ago!!) id be drivin right now. I had a chrome cover from a corporate axle that has the eyebrow in it. can ya tell me if this will help oil the bearings better on a buick axle or just looks now?
IF your old cover was a tempest looking cover...NO it does not have the cast holes to by pass the carrier bearing. Will not make a hill of beans difference. Jack the passenger side of the car some ...open the fill plug and this will add more fluid into the diff cavity. Good luck. Jim
