When identifying a Q-Jet, where on the carb do I find the numbers? Also, is the throttle linkage standard, and if so, which spot would it hook for a '70 Skylark?
The numbers are stamped on the driver's side of the carb toward the back. The number should start with a 7, unless it's a newer carb, which would start with a 17 (the changeover was in the mid 70's, IIRC).
Look for the numbers in the valley area of the carb behind the secondary throttle linkage arm. It also says Quadrajet there.. For decoding, you can ask here or try www.quadrajet.com in the ID section. The 704xxxx to 1704xxxx was in '75 I believe.
