I DONT LIKE HOLLEYS never have.demons run good from what im told.i useually run edlebrocks on my chevys. a buddy of mine run a preditor carb it is a variuble ventures carb he likes it . has anyone ran these befor. :beer :beer
I bought a new Edelbrock 850cfm Quadrajet. It's supposed to have all the mods already done. Like, large capacity accelerator pump, large needle and seat, large idle channells. Runs like a dog. Worst carb I have ever bolted on (have had 4 quadrajets on this car). Mechanic reports that it has the most worn throttle shaft he has ever seen on any carb. Couldn't get it to idle. Nose dives on acceleration. I want to throw it away. Summit has not replied to 4 emails I have written complaining and asking for a refund or warranty. Never again. Cost me over AU$1,000 to learn that lesson. But I could have just been given a dud one. Yeah right. My next quadrajet is coming straight out of the John Osborne Workshop. Can't go wrong when you have "1,000" testimonials from one guy. Should've listened to them. Don't make the same mistake I made.
summit Bill - it is possible for you to call summit? I can't believe they would shaft you that way....pun intended! Let me know and I'll call them if you can't. I thought it was a "new" carb? - Bill
Yeah, I thought it was a new carb too. It certainly looked like one. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24741&highlight=edelbrock Every email I send them get's angrier and angrier. The kicker is that they make a big deal about money back guarantee's and next day replies to all email queries. I'll keep trying. By all means, if you want to give them a call. They'll want to know all sorts of details (you'd think). and just ask what the best thing for me to do is. Of course, shipping will kill me. I might end up trading it in or taking it to a local carb repair shop to see if they can fix it. Live and learn (that's what I keep telling myself). Or I'll pull it apart and see if I can make a good carb out of the three 800's I have. Fortunately I have this set up (pictured below) to take my mind of it all.
