Rick, Do you have a heater control valve? If so that is where it goes. If you move the temperature lever(climate control panel) the opposite way it should shut off the vacuum.
*vulgarly displaying my ignorance*... If I were a heater control valve... where would I most likely be located... and what would I look like? o No:
The heater control valve shuts off flow to the heater core. It is in line with the heater hose that comes out of the intake manifold. The valve is vacuum operated and is usually found sitting on or close to the upper triangular A/C compressor bracket. It is round, about 3" in diameter, and has a small vacuum connection up top. In this picture it is directly to the left of the passenger side air cleaner foam seal.
Thanks for the explaination Larry. This car doesn't have one, but I bet you're right, thats what the hose "was" for. I'll move the heater once and see if it stops sucking. Either way.. I'm going to plug it since everything seems to be working fine in the heater system anyways. Thanks again for everyones help here! :beer :TU:
Glad to hear you got it straightened out Rick. BTW that carb should be OK if you have an upgraded cam and a stock intake. I didnh't have problems until I swapped on the dual plane aluminum intake.
