Hello, I just put a 7040244 on a 1970 455 auto. It runs okay. Does it make a big differance to run a 350 carb on a 455 motor? Any info would help before I go crazy trying to find a correct 455 carb I may be able to afford. Thanks, Sam

I imagine it will run "ok". The 70 455 carb was also a 750 cfm, I think the bigger difference is in the idle circuit, from what I've read.

When I first bought my GS, the previous owner had installed a jetted 1971 350 carb on it. The only problem I had was with the idle. I had to set it higher in neutral to make it idle in gear. The 455 carbs have more idle air capacity. That is the major difference in the carbs. You can put a 455 carb on a 350, but it's not the best idea to do the reverse. I now have an 800 CFM Q-jet from a 1972 455 (7042240).
