I don't know what is 'correct' but, mine and my brother's are both like the white interior set up with the velcro.
Al,is it possible to send me a couple of pics?i`d like to see how that strip holds on against the back of the seat?if its no problem email me a bunch of pics of how it looks,my email is staged67gspwr@aol.com i would realllllly appreciate it very much if its no problem. Thanks
Oh, I would definitely replace the snaps with velcro myself, but as for what the car came with, I would be very surprised if velcro was used.
George you got mail, Let me know if you want more shots. BTW Velcro was invented in 1948 I figure there's a good chance the factory used it...o No:
Al thanks for the pics, what do those snaps/screws swrew into the rear seat?i think the velcro is original, all the `67 i`ve seen had it from what i remember. Thanks
The seat back is covered about a foot down by a fiber? piece that has a vinyl finish and the metal strip that holds the velcro, screws into the seat frame. (From what I remember...Its been a while since I had it apart)
ok so the peice that`s behind my rear seat is the correct peice except that they cut it for speakers?and the tacking strip screw over that peice thats why it may be sagging also. Thanks
Kinda hard to tell from your picture... mine has a panel on the back similar to an interior door panel material and it has a vinyl texture finish on it.
why on earth did they stop using velcro if that was original? I have that dum@ss strip on my top boot and it stinks! I have to leave the boot on and fold it into the well liner when the roof is up. I should look into a custom boot held on by velcro behind the rear seat
This is mine and it has no velcro I think have the original boot and it has the plastic attached to the boot and 3 snaps. I dont think the snaps are original but were added. They snap around the cylinder cover but maybe original. My boot has very faint GS logos inside and the padding on the ends. The clips to the pinch weld molding are plastic. Here are 3 pics.... I know that car has a long way to go!!!!
Chris, You don't have to leave on, you could remove it, although it would be a pain if you did it all the time. I didn't think they were removable until recently. Mine came off for the first time since I had the car (4 years) about a month ago, when I replaced it with a new one (BTW, thanks again Scott M!).
slider versus velcro while anything is possible coming for GM this is what the GM Convertible 1967 Folding Top Operation Manual states: "Slide flap on front section of boot behind rear seat back" from that I take it the slider type is correct. My 69 has the slider type and I switch my boots between the "driver" one and the "show" one regularly - if everything is clean and in good shape it's easy to take the boot off as needed.
Thanks for the pics, that back peice may be the same but i have to get the strip from parts place. Thanks:TU:
67 My 67 Skylark and my buddies 67 olds convert have the same setup as Topless64-455's. I sill have the original boot.
Do the original and repro boots have the "GS" insignia on the inside of the boot?i recall seeing that somewhere on another GS? Thanks
The old one on my 69 did, not sure where it came from, but it was reproduction. I don't think the one I have on there now has it. Not sure where that one was made either, so I guess I am really no help at all!
