While installing a new engine in my 67 Sporty, I have found some hidden yet ugly rust underneath of the battery tray. My inner fender and the core support are shot in the exact shape of the tray. Are the core supports for of a standard skylark the same? How about the inner fenders? I dont suppose as a last resort the chevelle repop is compatible?? Maybe someone has one they can be persuaded to part with?? Thanks
66 and 67 skylarks/specials are very simular. no other breed of car will work. so find a 66 that has the battery on the driverside and you have a patch panel for your for the right side
Rick what you need to find is a core support out of a 66 GS. The battery on that one is on the drivers side and you can use the pass side of it to fix yours. The inner fenders are the same 66/7 and a rust free one is findable out of a 66 GS. I do not have a core support but may have a pass side inner fender, will look and post back, thanks Bill.
Still have these: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?228427-67-Skylark-Radiator-Support-NE-PA&highlight= http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...ender-Wells-amp-Battery-Tray-NE-PA&highlight= John
Thanks for all the quick info. Now I know what I am after. Nailhead, I want to look into finding a patch first. If I can't find one I will be in touch.
Complete 66 and 67 radiator supports are not interchangable, the headlight mounting is much different. Mike, is the section beneath the battery clay close enough to use as a patch panel for both 66 and 67? Here's a pic of a 66 rad support:
