Doug Jones was right on about the history of the GSX. My question is "how should the car have been saved?" It had many different engine combinations. I did not get the blower with the car deal. I also gave Dave $'s to get Ollie and his belongings out of Mexico. I knew Dave, Doug and Ollie since the early 70's when I went to work at Kenne-Bell. Ollie actually worked for me for there. For those who really know me know that buying and selling the car was and is not about money. I still have the car, it is being re-bodied. I just thought the GSX would be better served to restore it to the way Ollie bought it. Remember there are not very many of those left. I have owned four 70 GSX's and numerous Stage 1's plus the 72 Stage 1 Dave and Lennie Kennedy raced. I owned 21 1964 and 65 skylarks and GS's by the time I was 23. I bet no one but my mom knew that. Her backyard was full of them and they all ran. Anyway the GSX has undergone many changes during its life and the Harrison restoration will be the latest. For any of those who would doubt my love and concern for nostalgia and Buicks simply don't know me. Each of us have our own opinion of how cars should be saved. My current projects are another 455 in a 74 Apollo. A 3000 plus hp pro charged 455 Tomahawk in John Everett's dragster and 2 billet head designs. One similar to a Stage 2 and the other to flow from 0 to 650 cfm plus that will support 800 plus cu in Buicks. Oh yeah that 800 plus cu in motor is a future project that we are designing heads for now! Enough said!
Don't know, but I do know he doesn't have time. I text and call him all the time as he is restoring my 70 Stage 1. He has more than one job and I keep my conversations short and to the point. He will completely restore the GSX in all his spare time!
Bingo. Spot on....but I would amend your comment it's just a matter of time before our Buicks will be unwanted by adding "and/or are banned from ownership."
