These original style repros seemed to have disappeared . Anyone have a source for these at a good price? I have tried without sucess: Ground Up Year One OpG
http://www.carmansgarage.com/category/vintage.restorationbatteries/ A few bucks for sure! http://www.firewheelclassics.com/PDF/108_117.pdf A bit less for certain. Bottom of the page. Couple of more links on Google, search R59 Reproduction Battery HTH
Did you try New Castle Battery? They are the manufacturers. I bought one from them last year. they also now make on that is maintenance free. They are in western PA. I bet most dealers buy from them and have them ship to you.
I did not as I was told they ceased making them and for this reason they are in short supply. I will check tomorrow to see if that is true. I appreciate the tip.
Here you go. New Castle's equipment and intelectual property was sold at auction over the internet in January 2006. http://www.dovebid.com/Auctions/Auction10160/bro10160.pdf?AuctionID=10160
Jim, I have 3 of the batteries that are sealed batteries unlike the old acid style. Call me tomorrow and I'll see how much they cost me. Mark
Go to the source!! Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, Ohio: http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/ If you have factory documentation, you may want to reference that instead of their on-line application guide or anyone else's. I'm more into Oldsmobiles, and I know that Year One and everyone else always claimed that the R59 is correct for a '70 4-4-2, when in fact an R71S was installed by the factory. I think Buick may have also used an R71S in their A-bodies with big block -- I'd have to check my Delco literature. Regardless, Antique Auto Battery makes an excellent product and is a good company to deal with.
Mark I really appreciate that offer. I sure would take you up on it but I have already committed to buy a couple of sealed ones before I saw your post. If that falls through I will call.
I don't understand this. At the peak of the faithfully-restored muscle car craze they stop making one of the most popular sizes? o No: Something doesn't add up.
