I'm shopping for some original or reproduction Buick rallye wheels for my 72 LeSabre ragtop. What specs am I looking for? 5 on 5, 5 on 4.75, what offset, etc? I'm a rookie and don't want to get stuck with rims that don't fit. Thanks all.

There are 2 types - early and late

You want the late style for the 72. The difference came between the 70 and 71 wheels, where the backspacing was different. Earlier wheels had less backspacing, but the actual wheel stuck out further in the wheel well, making room for the optional 4 piston caliper brakes on the 70 and earlier cars.

Late style wheels are flatter in the center section, allowing the wheel to sit further inside the wheel well.

Picture of early and late wheels:

Notice the center sections are slightly different. Early style is on the bottom left, and the late is on the top right.

Center hole sizes are different as well. Late style has a 2" hole. Early style has a 2 1/8" hole.

    Good luck in your search.

There is a set on ebay right now....they are really nice, but are spendy.

Smartin I have a question about that 69-70 rim you have shown in the lower left corner of picture. Do you have a complete set? I'm looking for 2 of them.

What's your location? I have 9 OEM wheels available IF you can pick them up in Austin,Tx. I can remove them off the cars but can not ship them. One set of 5 on a 72 Centurian 2drhdtp and a set of four still on a 73 Centurian convert. $25 each times how many you select.

You know you could drop them off at a UPS shipping store and they do all the packaging for you. Let me know if scooter gets back to you.

What about a 71 LeSabre convertible? Same 15x6 with 5 on 5? Early Late?

71 is the same wheel type as a 72...late style.
