In a '70 Skylark, using a stock 455 engine, with an HEI Distributor, how do you use the STOCK Ram Air Cleaner with the STOCK GS Hood?:Do No:

    Or CAN you?:Do No:

You have 3 choices: Remove the bottom part of the driver's side element; "hack" into that same element so the HEI fits; or, finally, use a different distributor, such as a Stinger S-4, Mallory Unilite or, dare I say, have Dave Ray hook you up...

Those are your options as far as I can see...:Comp:

I'm running an HEI without any clearance issues with the ramair cleaner/hood...its a tight fit but no problems:Do No: Unless it has something to do with Edelbrock intake, does it put the air cleaner a little higher?

Mine fits also. I'm running the B4b, quadrajet, and a HEI. I did however remove the flat plates that screw under the hood openings to give a little more clearance.

This is a problem on a buddy's car. '70 Skylark, STOCK '76 455 Original intake, carb, HEI, etc.!), '69 GS Ram Air Cleaner, Stock GS Hood:Do No:

With the Hood CLOSED, the Ram Air Cleaner is RIGHT AGAINST THE HOOD, where the Foam Pieces are supposed to meet the Seal Plates!

We can't even install the Hood Scoops or the Seal Plates, because there is NO CLEARANCE between the Air Cleaner and the Hood!:puzzled:

I'll try to take some pictures this afternoon and post them later.:TU:
