Anyone know of a place that does a good job of rechroming the bumpers and trim? Prefferably in the Chicago area, but anywhere else is okay too. Also, how much should I expect to pay for a decent job? What do I look for? I know nothing about this. Or if anyone knows of someone who makes new reproduction 55 Buick bumpers, that would be helpful too. Thanks.

is this desert dog place a chrome shop or does he sent the stuff out? I thought they specialized in selling rust free body parts from out west.

Hey guys! You are making me blush with all this hoopla over my business, Desert Dog Auto Parts, THANKS!

To set the record straight, we will restore ANY one piece bumper, no matter HOW smashed, crushed, torn or flat, sandblast it, straighten it using factory dies, copper-nickel-chrome (triple plate) it, polish it and it comes with a full THREE YEAR guarantee, for JUST $250.00! We can ALSO restore multiple piece bumpers AND rotted bumpers, but you will have to contact us for details. We cannot help with replating anything other than bumpers, sorry.

We have had them do several bumpers for our older cars, and we also buy our late model rechromes from them. They are first class, and reasonably priced also. :TU:
Being in the "rust belt" they have the recipe for properly preparing the backside so the plating stays put.

Try Tri City Chrome Platting. I had both the front and rear bumpers completed on my 61 lesabre conv. and this includes the bullets and the rear bumper guards. They give a life time warranty. It's show chrome and not a blimish on them. They are located in Elizabethon, tn www.tricityplating.com

    Jerry,
The last GS bumpers at North Star (for a 72) we had done in '99 cost about $260 each which was with our body shop discount.
