I have an 83 Regal Wagon and I am trying to remove the headlight rod to get the cosmetic panel off. On my 71 Buick there is that little button on the headlight switch that you push to release the rod to do this, but for the life of me I cant find that on the Regal light switch? Anyone have a pic or an explanation of how to get the rod out of the light switch?

    Thanks,
    Jon

I had an '83 Regal wagon once, probably just like yours, and I think you just pull the light switch on and reach around to the backside of the knob with a small allen key(or something like that) and there is a tab inside that area that you depress and the knob will just pull off. But don't quote me because I haven't seen the car for many months.

No, I doubt you had a wagon like mine.... It is truely one of a kind.... I painted it Green with Purple Stripes, and it sits on 22" Rims. I also sprayed the interior with Yellow Rustoleum to give it that Wow effect....

Thanks Mike! Did you ever get the pics I sent you of the Nats? You should see the mod that I just made. After the v8 swap, I had everything working on the wagon again, even the TCC Lockup, except for the portion where it was speed sensed. It would lug the engine at 25 MPH if the engine shifted to 3rd. So....... I made my own Speed Minder and have a small brass pin at 45 MPH that catches a light spring from another speedometer and sends it to ground activating a relay to engage the TCC at 45 MPH. Its also vacuum controlled and senses brake deployment. All done mechaniclly! :) The Dual exhaust adds a lot too!

    Hows the 65 coming along?

Yes I did get the pics. Good burnout!
That must be a nice looking piece of work with an extra speedo sitting there.
Dual exhaust never hurts. Probably picked up some mileage too.
    '65 is still in limbo.

Yes, the speedo is really neat! I took the return spring out of the other speedo and soldered it to the pin and then grounded the pin. When the little brass spring makes contact with the pin at 45 MPH it sends a signal to a relay which grounds and completes the loop.

I am in the process of buying some 84 Alluminum GN Rims for the wagon as we speak. They are the ones that have the Blacked out fins. It will look great when I black out the chrome. Arent you glad you sold this to me??
