Rear bumper filler piece.

    There was a piece of material similar to trunk liner or hard rubber stapled to this area just under the top lip of the rear bumper.
    It was painted body colour. It was also dry rotted and came apart in three pieces.
    When the bumper is installed you can see this area and I was wondering what others have done here.

    not on my '72 gs with the trunk closed, u can barely see the area u are talking about. there are a pair of rubber blocks that mount on the ledge.

    not all had them and if it had paint on it it wasn't factory paint, the ones ive seen were either natural rubber or had overspray from poorly masked paint jobs

    It did look more like overspray than intentionally painted.
    I am going to put something back on there but when I re-install my bumper I will try to close that gap up as much as I can.
