Anyone have a '71 rear bumper with brackets currently off the car?
I've taken a couple off before & seem to recall how they go back together.
The outer supports were always bolted on the inside of the main bracket, that is, away from the bumper. Chassis manual I'm looking at shows the outer support outside the main bracket, against the bumper itself. Shown as mounted next to the bumper.

    Long Winter nights. :Do No:

    Thanks Dave.
You might be able to answer my question just by crawling under your car for a peek.
    Your car is home ?

No not yet just primed the body and fenders this past weekend. I 'm pretty sure I took a pic of that area prior to dissamembly though. I will check tonight and let you know.

I have one off the car.the outer supports go from upper bumper bracket bolt to the corners of the bumper. main bracket goes on first.

    Hi Bill,
That's the way I've put them back on in the past.Main bracket against the bumper & then the outer support. Just happened to notice the drawing in the Chassis Manual shows it differently.

Thats funny I was just looking at that today, Steve. The manual does show the side supports towards the bumper side but i don't recall ever seeing one like that....

    Later
