I just picked up a 71 Skylark with the rear defrost option. This is the first skylark I've seen with this. Anyone else here have this?

i would imagine that most larks sold in the nothern u.s. or canada had rear window fan driven defrosters . my 72 gs has it , as did my 70 chevelle . the defrosters were an option .
if u look carefully , u will find that the grills for the rear window defrosters are different for at least ,70 ,71 ,72 .
i believe that a few years later , in canada , that rear window defrosters became mandatory .

Have one in my'71. Not original to the car but added after I bought it. Have a good spare as well.
The speed control for these fans is via a selector on the dash.
Careful when tearing out carpet or seats.
A resistor is connected to the selector. This resistor is made from about 10' of resistive conductor, installed below the carpet on the drivers side. Believe it was purple/violet.

I would have thought so too, but this is my fourth Buick and have never seen it before. I'll have to look alittle more closely when i go to car shows.

  5. My 68 has rear defrost. It was originally sold in Oregon, so I suppose they wanted to be able to defog. I had to use it a few mornings in Salem last week too.
