What rear ends did 70's skylarks have in them? Is it just a gm 12 bolt?

A 70 skylark stock will have a 8.2" 10 bolt. It is an odd size, hard to find a wide variety of replacement rings and pinions for. The 8.5" 10 bolt is more common, and found on other GM stuff from the same period and on 71 and up skylarks. 12 bolts could only be had on a '70 Skylark/GS if built in canada. :Smarty:

Would a chevy 12 bolt fit in there easily?

It would bolt right up if pulled out of another '68-72 GM A-body.

A 12 bolt diff will fit but you will need the adapter u-joint from NAPA as the chevy 12 bolt will have smaller u-joints.

When installing the Chevy 12 bolt, you need a NEAPCO #3-3130
offset u-joint. You may also have to shorten your driveshaft. I know when swapping from an 8.2 to an 8.5 you need to shorten the d-shaft 1.5" Did this in a 70 GS455.
