Hi. I want to add a rear bar to a 70 Skylark. Any recommendations on a aftermarket one. Who uses what make. thanks.
Good products, good prices. I've used them several times. Page 2 - Sway Bars and bushings - Muscle Factory Webstore (muscle-factory.com)
The link provided by ragtops is a good setup. It has the reinforcements if you don't have boxed control arms. That will work in a driver car that you aren't autocrossing every weekend. That would a different setup front and rear for that.
Al - spacers will not be enough as the arm will flex. The Muscle Factory kit above includes the box piece which is easily welded in.
Yes, I would definitely box the lower control arms even if only for fun cruising. Any welder can do it for not much $ if you buy the pieces.
Good to know. We have a welder here. We will box them as suggested here and have learned from a few others. I hope to find a rear bar up here. I am in Ontario. So anything I can purchase up here is a bonus.
You can look for any GM A-body rear sway bar for 70-72. Maybe 68-69 but not sure if they are the same. That can broaden the search north of the border!
