    Tom,

Attached are pictures of the #460 bar. You can see that the mounting design is to mount to the side of the LCA. I don't see how I can use this mounting method on top of the LCA/under the spring. You can see it better in the instructions I uploaded under post #13.

I am guessing there has been a design change. I will be contacting Addco to confirm.

Do you have any pictures of your setup

    Thanks

You'd have to make new brackets in an L configuration, but you could probably make the #460 bar work on top on the LCA's.

What I can tell you Doug is that somebody screwed up!!!! If the "Eye" was turned "UP" it would then bolt on top of the LCA under the spring like I have been talking about. My bar is not like that at ALL. You could heat the bar between the "eye" & the u-bolt & turn it flat. This will NOT hurt the bar as long as you don't go into the "bend" as that's where all the spring tension is.

I have the final answer from Addco. They only offer the 934 and 460 the way I have received them. I am going to keep searching for a better bar.

Addco did mention they thought Hotchkis carried a bar for the '65 Riviera which mounted on top of the LCA. I did not see one on their site, but sent them a message. I did see they carried a bar for the early-60s Impala/Bel Air, which has a similar frame/suspension setup to the Riviera. Anyone know how close the Impala is to the Riviera?

    Thanks

looking forward to hear your results i have a 68 wildcat and im looking to add a rear swaybar. i purchase a used 7/8th rear swaybar with brackets(for sale) off of ebay that came off an 80 caprice that i couldnt mount because of exhaust pipes needed to be notched or re-routed. im considering the 933 bar from addco, a bar from p-s-t, or jamco. but the aftermarket bars all are 1 inch, i would prefer 7/8th because my front bar is 7/8th upgraded with polyurethane bushings and endlink kits. i read rear bar should be same size or smaller than front.:kodak:

The #934 bar also lists for a '59-'64 Impala, so if Hotchkis offers that it should work.

Doug, when your in my area let me know. I will try top bring my Riv. down, put it up on the lift so you can actually see how the bar is mounted BEFORE spending any more $$$$$$. Of course it has to be a non RAINING day.

Thanks for the offer Tom. I don't have any immediate plans to come down, but I expect I will be down during the summer.

I did hear back from Hotchkis and they indicated they do not carry a bar for the '65 Riv. I replied back to see if they have some measurements for the 58-64 Impala bar, so I can see if it might work. I'm a little hesitant to go in this direction as the bar is so much more expensive then the Addco version.

I just got around to installing my #460 bar yesterday. This damn thing doesn't fit at all. The angle of the mounting plates aren't even close to the angle of the LCA's. I was able to get hardware thru the rear mounting holes, but I've got to fab up some new tabs for the two foreward mounting holes. Should till work good, just a huge pain in the ass. For an application specific part this thing sucks. Definitely disappointed in Addco.

Just a quick follow up. Gave Addco a call today before I went any further, and fabbed up the new mounting tabs. They were actually very helpful. The guy I spoke with even ran out to their warehouse and grabbed some measurements from a #460 bar, to compare to mine. Needless to say they didn't match up, and the measurments of the bar he had would just compound the problem. Anyway, to make a long story short, he simply said call back the the width of the bar I need, and they'd go ahead and make it and ship it out.

Hopefully bar #2 will work out better!
