I do not believe that ratio was ever offerred by Buick in a 68-70 car with an 8.2.

From what I understand the auburn Cone posi units are not rebuildable.

    3.55 is a 12 bolt gear I believe.

Look into Eaton's HD Posi for the 8.2 or go with a later coporate 8.5

Won't work, if rear is original to the '69 Skylark.
'68-70 BUICK 8.2 is not the same as '64-67 BOP or '64-69 Pontiac 8.2. This needs to be a sticky :Brow:

There are no new aftermarket gears for the '68-70 BUICK 8.2.
For more info on adapting an aftermarket or original 8.2 BOP carrier into a '68-70 BUICK 8.2, ck the following link. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=95821

Adapting the BOP 8.2 carrier will only work if one has low ratio BUICK 8.2 gears & one will have to open the ring gear bolt holes up on the aftermarket BOP 8.2 carrier, as well as machine a thin wall bushing to press onto the new carrier's lh bearing boss.

Last, before spending the coin on any 8.2 builds, it makes alot of sense to ck out what an 8.5 A-body rear has to offer.

    Will try to disect this..

#1 There is no such thing as "1964-71 BOP 8.2". Anyone advertising as such, has not done their homework. It's gobbeldy gook speak going back over 30+ years ago when someone was trying to to put in print a listing for '64-67 8.2 BOP gears. Was probably Richmond or Zoom or even Mr Gasket. Wouldn't give any of 'em final credit w/o looking through few old old speedparts catelogues, but have seen such listings many times in the past. Many companys still advertise this way today

    3.36- up 28 spline, 1964-71 bop refers to 3.36 & numerically bigger (3.36, 3.55, 3.90. 4.10, 4.33, 4.56, 4.88...5.57) '64-67 BOP 8.2 gears. The 3.36 gear was not the gear cutoff for '68-70 BUICK 8.2 gears. 3.36 was not even used in the '68-70 Buick 8.2 rearend.

'64-67 BOP 8.2 gears were also used through the '69 model in Pontiac A-bodys (LeMans & GTO's) & in '69 GrandPrixs. Thus why one will often hear them referrred to as '64-69 "Pontiac" 8.2 gears. The '69 Pontiac Firebird model was extended up into November, & very late built '69 Firebirds can easily have the '70-72 "Pontiac" 8.2 gears. '70-72 Pontiac 8.2 gears have larger diam left hand thread ring gear bolts & their respective carriers have larger diam ring gear bolt holes. Earlier "BOP" 8.2 ring gears used smaller diam RH thread ring gear bolts.

Auburn posi carriers... Unless Auburn has come out with a line of NEW carriers, specifically for '68-70 BUICK 8.2 10 bolts, the above listed carrier will not fit. Will take a few minutes when I get back & ck Auburns website for new product releases, but until then will rely on hands on experience.
