I bought a pair of rear wheel cylinders at autozone & they were the wrong part.. the store is unable to find a match for the one I have & I am hoping someone will have cross reference part numbers for a replacement available at either autozxone, advance auto, or napa.. I have to replace delco moraine part # 5467191 it is a wheel cylinder with a 1" bore
I agree. Just order them for a Chevelle or GTO. Then watch the guy go like this when they match. uzzled:
Rr cyl. 68s have a 7/8 bore which are the same 1968 thru 1975 all "A" body Buicks exc. 4000 wagons. We have them in stock,if interested let me know. :TU:
sorry, but I want what I asked for, which is a 1" bore & I need an exact match & replacement for delco moraine part # 5467191 which is what come off my 68, not anything else.. the part you have in stock is probably the same part I already bought that did not fit.. all the parts I find from stores or resto supplies have a circle in the back, whereas the one I need has a half circle with a flat lip. I did find napa has an exact match, part # UP 37170. http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPag...37170&Description=Wheel+Cylinder+-+Right+Rear however, even napa, when searching for this part by year & make did not come up with the one I need, so maybe this was an option, an upgrade, or maybe a previous owner changed rear ends.. the brake shoes I bought were same as ones on car, so, I have no idea why I have a different wheel cylinder then what is the norm..
FWIW, the only 1" rear cylinders that I can find that were used on "A" body cars were on the 68-69 Sportwagon rear axles. If the rear shoes are 2 1/2 by 9 1/2 instead of 2 by 9 1/2, you may have a Sportwagon rear in your car. Another way to tell what cylinder you have is if the steel brake line goes in at an angle on each side instead of straight in as the Sportwagon had left and right cylinders. The rear axle may have been swapped at some time. The backing plates on the Sportwagon rear will only take those cylinders and you cannot switch to the other type. My parts book does not list the cylinder # you have as that may just be a casting number and not the part number. If your cylinders are as I described above, you may be able to get the correct ones by having them look up Sportwagon instead of Skylark. Good Luck, Scott
Sorry, for the intrusion, we only use GM brake restoration parts on our resto GS cars in the shop. My GM parts catalogs go back to 1938. But I understand if you want a 1 in. bore and want to use an aftermarket supplier and are having difficult finding one. Just trying to help. Happy Hunting....................
The original part is an original GM part.. Delco Moraine was a General Motors parts manufacturer.. a 7/8 bore would not be correct on my car, nor would it fit.. after some research I found that the rear end is original on my car & the 1" bore wheel cylinder is from the factory & the correct part does come up for 68 skylark/gs using napa's paper catalogs, along with several others.. I have no idea why my car has the 1" bore if 7/8 is the majority.. might have been an option..
