I have the single speaker and AM radio in my 70 buick stage 1 and I am trying to figure out where the rear defroster should be. It came out from behind the driver side but I can see where it could have been originally in the middle. Any help on this dilema is appreicited.

I believe 70 was off to one side or another but 71-72 is in the center. I think the grille covers are different for 70 because they have to blow in one direction. My 71 was factory equipped and I believe it originally came in the middle where it is neccesary now as I have two rear speakers.

Do you have a 70 service manual? See if you can find a picture.

I checked the service manual unfortunately both the service and the assembly manual show no pictures or offer any information that would be of any help.

    70

70 Fan housing mounts on the dirvers side, and the vent blows from the center of the package tray. Approx 2.5" x 12", centered in the window, closer to the back seat back rest.

72 and later was off to the side on the package tray.

Original 71-72 location is dead center. 70 was different grille. 70 had metal 71-72 plastic.

I have a NOS 1970 unit in the box . I will check the directions and see what it says . I know the 71-72 was center . I believe that the 50 was as fescribed off to the side .
