Rear window is out. What to use to put it in. I know enough not to use silcone but what should I use. The fellows at the parts store said to use Urithaen but all I can find is PolyUrithaen, I know its not spelled right but you get what I mean. Anyway the weather is good and I should do this now, only I am afraid that I maybe using the wrong stuff. The temp around here goes from -40 to +110 so using the wrong stuff could mean replacing what was a good window. So please help this poor Canadian save his car window from it's owners stupid mistakes, you guys have always have the right answer.

I just put the windows back in my 64 wagon,i went to Standard Auto Glass,or you can go to Apple Auto Glass and get primerless urethane to put window back in or you can get the tape type sealer(original),i swore that after i did these ones i would pay someone to come and put them in,but i am too cheap to do that. The guys i went to gave me some pointers on how to do it,and thickness of the bead etc.The urethane is really, really sticky i think i still have some on my hands  Its not too bad to do and helps alot if you have someone there with you to lend a hand.Make sure you take care of any paint or rust issues before putting it back in,and make sure you use new window clips, some(with the screws in them) need to be installed before the window. They told me to have a bead of 3/8ths of an inch.I also took all the old tape sealer off with razor blade and cleaned with alcohol before installing. There should be some rubber spacer blocks from the window about 1/4 inch thickness or so that set the distance from frame to window on outside edges. The window has to be set upon the sealer, then put the window trim on to set the depth of the window so the trim looks right(the trim pushes the window down to right depth)They told me not to push the window in let the trim do that.If i have not covered everything,i hope someone else will chime in,have fun...Darren :beer

Well I followed your advice and the results are great I had a real mess going for awhile there so I stoped and took a break. Then cleaned up my mess and started again and the "results" look like it was done by a pro. I guess sometimes just knowing what the plan is, insted of winging it is so much better. Again thanks for the tips and the speedy answers.

Oh and by the way the glass is still in one piece.

    Check for leaks!

Use a water hose and check for leaks before installing the trim.
