What intake manifold are you using?
Does the intake flange have the exhaust crossover trough in front of the primary bores?

    Hi Greg,

OEM intake manifold. Since I don't have a heat baffle at all at this point for the Q-Jet, I am wondering what would be best to go with....

In the future, I plan to port my heads and put in a TA_284-88H cam if that makes any difference. Mild build is all I will be going for in the foreseeable future. Street car and I plan to drive it frequently for 20-25 mile trips one way.

    Ed,
    A 1967 Buick 400/430 intake manifold should use a gasket like #1705:

Originally, there would be a gasket against the intake flange, then a steel block off shim and the carb mounted directly on top of the steel shim.

Now some people prefer to use a 2nd gasket on top of shim.

You must use a steel shim to block off the exhaust gasses.
