I swear I looked all over for a related thread and could not find one. Anyway, my 400 hood emblems and my GS swing-away trunk emblems are all flaking away due to typical after market quality. I want to touch up with correct color. I'm pretty anal. Any suggestions?

Your local hobby shop should have small bottles of plastic model enamel - Testors 'Insignia Red' should do the trick. :TU:
There should be quite a few previous posts on that topic in the forum Ken.

I know it's been discussed, I searched hi and low but found nothing. I figured the old Testors suggestion would be the one to go with. :) My local hobby shop? Do you know where I live? LOL :bglasses:

Ken if you have a Michaels craft shop near by they carry testors paint. I have used it and it looks great.

Testors 1103 Red. That is what I used.

Spray them. Paint rubs right off chrome with lacquer thinner. Buick Red and all purpose engine red work fine. I have had several NOS units and even they vary. If you are truly anal do you really want brush marks?

Good point. The decklid emblem will be a bit more challenging. Has black and red.

You can coat chrome areas with rubber cement and peal off after painting.

I used the Testors red but instead of using a brush I used a fine needled syringe and flooded the areas with paint. It flows out nicely and any that creeps up the sides of the chrome scrapes off easily with a toothpick after drying for a few hours. Did the same with flat black between the letters.

X2 I floated the paint. I used the engine red paint by spraying into a container and floating with a small model brush. same with the black. came out perfect.
