Can anyone advise as to the best way to dissassemble the chrome remote control mirror assembly, so I can reuse the acutual 3 wire assembly with the mirror and control lever into another mirror housing. Is there some way to disconnect the 3 control wires from the control lever so they can be reassembled? Tom
Solved my own problem. Used a small flatblade screwdriver to carefully pry open up the joystick control cable slots that crimps on the cable sheaths and core wires. Then disconnected the joystick Next removed the mirror's pivot assembly retaining screw to separate it from the badly pitted shell housing and pulled the cable/mirror pivot assembly through the mirror pedestal and housing and installed it into the other good housing. Re attached the original joystick. Beware when purchasing chrome remotes if you are into authenticicity. Like on sport mirrors the pedestal mounts differed in angles between GS's and other models, and may have a different footprint. Mine did. (I had to use the original mirror's pedestal with the new mirror's shell) The joysticks differed also in mounting and look. Tom
