Can someone tell me exactly how to get the knob off the end of a column shifter. Are they pressed on, or glued on, or threaded? :Do No: Tried for a bit but started getting ugly with it, and didn't want to bust it off. Thanks, Jim

mine seemed to have glue and some kind of clip...I just twisted back and forth till it eventually gave in...

They are pressed on. The end of the handle has flutes on it and you will really need to pull straight to get the knob off the handle. If you twist, you will damage the knob.

Thanks George and Michael, I'll give it another shot without getting too aggressive.

If you carefully use a heat gun it might help loosen it up also.

In my experience with things like that.....

You can yank, twist, pry, and pull all day on something and nothing happens....
Here's a trick that has always worked well for me in the past...

Pull on it REALLY hard, aiming right towards your face or groin.....
    It'll come right off!
