O.K. I have started this project (350 swap for a big block.) New Hotchkis springs, all energy suspension (sleeves and bushings), boxed and welded rear control arms, removed the drums put on disc brake conversion, built a monster 455 and a transmission to match. Then I get to the point when it is time to put all the goodies under the hood and I am looking at this ugly Air conditioning, first thought rip it out. When you open the hood I wanted to see nothing but beautiful american muscle. Then I realize, this may be the biggest project of all (not sure all invloved, like removing fenders and what not) and may be sorry later cause air is nice.
What are your thought on this, and have you done this before? What did you do? I have been trying to get some info on this, and most have been helpful, just need more info.

a housing that covers the large a/c hole but still gives you a heater and
looks good. i dont now his seller id but just look under 'skylark 'and it will show
a picture of heater cover. it's also listed under chevelle and nova to. :bglasses:

I'll buy the a/c parts if you remove them. I also noticed you have the black rubber on your water valve. I'll buy that too if you think its ugly?

After all is done, I will consider. I was thinking of keeping it if I ever wanted it back in, but some times fast cash is nice too.

Hey Joe...what did you decide to do? I've got a '71 Skylark convert I just dropped a 455 into. Like you, I hate that the A/C takes up so much real estate with it's ugliness...and in my case, the drop-top makes the A/C seem 100% unnecessary.

Were you able to find parts & advice to get this done?

    Thanks!!

As of right now, I am hooking up everything without the AC. The right half of the AC condensor box was interfereing with my tall valve covers so I had to take it off just to get the motor in. I think what I am going to do is take the whole thing out and put it in a box. Save it for later, there has been enough help here to figure out what to do with out it. Besides, straight up, its ugly. I will take some pictures to spark some more convo just cause this is a sore spot with me. AC is nice, but I rarely use it, and if its that hot out, I don't think I will be running around in my Buick.
    Hope to hear more later.

I was thinking the same thing. You will have to either remove the inner or outter fender to get at all the bolts. I seen the one on E-bay and thought I could save a few dollars and make one. I wanted to keep the heater also.

    Not hard to do........
