Replacement floor pans, 64 Buick: Classic Fabrication or Classic 2 Current Fab?

Discussion in 'Color is everything!' started by BamaWildcat, Jun 18, 2011.

  1. I'm going to need front floor pans in my 64 Wildcat. It seems there are two choices out there Classic Fabrication or Classic 2 Current Fabrication. Does anyone have any feedback on the two? Classic Fabrication has no pictures, Classic 2 Current has small ones.

I don't like how they look in the pictures. They lack the correct ribbing and also no drain plug stamping. I'm going with used because they will fit, and have the correct stampings. I wish the replacements were made a little bit better. What I would give to be able to buy a full, correct replacement floor pan for a 61-64 fullsize Buick.......

If you buy either set, let us know how they fit.

  3. For me they look like they cut off right where I would need them- toward the front of the floor about right under the right kick panel vent.

That's the part I need too. The "heel" section of the floor is actually all part of the firewall that extends down to the floor. I am fabricating that part right now (using the flat sheet metal from an old 63 hood as a matter of fact!) I just replaced the under seat secton of my floor, I had to fab it all from scratch (check my recent posts for a link to photos). I saved a set of great floor support channels from another Wildcat years ago, and I'm glad I did. Lot of work to remove them. I even looked a the re-pop Impala stuff. It's SO close, but just won't work. I'm so jealous of what's available for the 63-64 Impala! I wish there was a bit more demand for these so we could get a better fitting, correct replacements. Please! someone make them!!!

I bought floor sections for my 58 from Classic Fabrication. I talked to him on the phone, and mentioned that my toe boards were rotted on the bottom as well...and he sent me some free scrap sheet metal with the front floor sections to fill them in. I've never heard of classic to current...or anything about them.

Finally finished fitting the used floors in the Wildcat. The passenger side was worse, I needed more metal than I was able to cut out, So I had to hand fabricate the missing sections (used the flat sheetmetal cut from an extra 63 hood). Also had to make the heel section for the passenger side. I had a lot more to work with on the driver's side. Only had to fabricate a small section. Oddly, it almost completely rotted out at the accelerator pedal. Also needed to cut out and replace a good section of the inner rocker on the driver's side while the floor is out. It's all held together right now with Coleco pins. I lost access to the MIG welder I was borrowing. Trying to get a welder now.

I bought front floorpans from Classic 2 Current for my 40 Super. I was dissapointed that the ribbing was not correct. They fit fine and they are made in Detroit area with American made steel. they were quite helpful with any questions I had. Unfortunatly with these Buicks we don't have the choices of the Chevy crowd.
