Replacing screws in carb - bronze ok or must it be brass?

I need to replace a few of the screws in my carburetor, but can't locate the proper screws in brass - but I have 'em in bronze.

Anyone know what metals will be OK with the gas contact and would work in a carburetor ok?

It's been a fun project to rebuild the carburetor, but I would hate to have to tear it all apart again just to replace a bad choice of screw material.

    Thanks!

Brass & bronze are fine, as are most plated low carbon fasteners. Avoid raw (unplated) low carbon screws/bolts as they tend to sieze over time due to galvanic corrosion.

    Are the original screws brass?

I'd expect the brass screws to require substantially lower torque values than steel; and therefore potentially create leaks if the original fasteners were steel.

Yes, the originals were brass. I ended up skipping the bronze and found better screws in brass at a different specialty screw shop (Tacoma Screw for anyone in the Pacific Northwest).

The new screws worked out great, and the carb is back on the car and running strong.

Now I've got to deal with fixing the choke - and by fix I mean upgrade to electric, the old one was completely shot.

    Thanks for the help!
